I truly love helping people get better and pushing them to do things they never imagined were possible.
Year you started Functional Fitness and how you found it:
I started functional fitness/CrossFit while still active duty Air Force in 2012. A squadron member introduced me to CrossFit and like everyone else, I totally dig it.
I played baseball and football for Kingman High School in Arizona where I was named 1st Team All-State Linebacker. I went on to play for the national champions Glendale Gauchos. I was able to put on the helmet one more season while stationed in Guam playing for the Kraft Eagles in the Miller Football League.
My Squadron Commander was awesome enough to send me to get my first CrossFit Level 1. From there, another squadron member and I started the military affiliate CrossFit 364 — it was an amazing experience.
Besides training fellow squadron members, we traveled around northern California and trained Air Force Special Operations candidates. Soon after retiring from 26 years in the Air Force, I was coaching at a local CrossFit affiliate. That turned into a half-ownership, and finally full owner.
What do you do outside the box:
I also coach at another functional fitness gym. When not coaching, I spend most of my time hanging at the house with all our animals. My beautiful wife, Julie, is in the veterinary field and we’ve acquired a number of cats, dogs, birds, and a cow. My wife is also a trail/ultra-marathon runner and she gets me out running the hills and mountains as much as possible with her. I also enjoy getting out on the road on my Harley as much as I can.
